If you’re a subscriber whose been following my health journey (aka this blog) from the beginning, you know that I’ve been trying to gain weight for quite a while now. Eating healthy and super clean is great for your body, but in my opinion it makes it harder to keep weight on if you can’t consistently meet the required caloric intake. My goal weight is 135 lbs., and I currently weigh 117 lbs. (5 of those lbs. I was able to gain in the past 3 weeks or so) 18 lbs. is a lot of weight to gain, especially when you want to solely build muscle and not fat, but I know I can do it. I just need to stay the course and remain diligent in what it is I want to achieve. Staying in the gym no less than 5 days a week lifting them weights and working these musclessssss.
I have learned to not stress about this slow progression, and to embrace, love, and take care of this body no matter what. It’s all about body positivity. Living a holistic, wholesome, balanced and healthy life is what’s most important, not my weight. The pounds will come with the work I will continue to put in. I will see these gainzzzzz eventually, and I’m okay with where I’m at right now.
Also, if you are currently struggling with achieving the body you want, or struggling with your body image in any way let me tell you this…
I know how hard it can be to not compare yourself to others. Just keep in mind when you find yourself making those comparisons that there is no exact ‘healthy life look’. Remember that your body is unique to you.. No need to be self conscious or stressed. Try your hardest to practice positive self talk, hype yourself up. I know these things can be easier said than done, but living life with a positive mindset, being kind to your body and being confident is literally life changing.
My Favorite Protein Powders
Collagen Protein. Collagen is one of my favorite supplements, EVER! Did you know that collagen is the most abundant protein in your body? It’s one of the major building blocks of bones, skin, muscles, tendons and ligaments.
Gym & Tonic’s collagen protein powder supports muscle definition, endurance, and joint support. The best thing about this powder is that its flavorless. In my opinion flavored protein powders limit you to only being able to make certain kinds of smoothies/shakes. With this I can make any flavor shake I want. Nothing better than drinking a sweet fruity smoothie that’s PACKED with protein.
Hemp protein. Hemp protein is one of the perfect plant-based proteins. I’m in love with it. Honestly, it being made from the hemp plant makes me love it even more because the plant naturally has healing properties. Hemp seeds are a powerhouse when it comes to protein with at least 20 amino acids, including the nine essential amino acids. It doesn’t have a strong taste, just a faint nutty flavor, which also makes it a perfect addition for any flavor smoothie.
