The Nighttime Routine That Cured My Insomnia | Catch Some Zzzz’s

I’m super excited to share my nighttime routine that cured my insomnia with you all. I never thought that I would find a natural fix for it but I did and I have been well rested ever since.

I had been struggling with insomnia for most of my life. It caused me to always be irritable, stressed, and depressed. Me switching to a holistic lifestyle made me pay way more attention to my mind, body, and soul. With that being said, I immediately began to research certain conditions that I had that needed to be addressed and tended to. In the case of this particular blog post, my dreadful insomnia


My Nighttime Routine

First things first, I take a nice, hot and relaxing detox bath. What this detox bath includes is:

  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 10 drops tea tree oil
  • almost a handful of pink Himalayan salt
  • Dr. Teal’s coconut oil Epsom salt

Not only does this detox bath draw toxins out of your body, its a great stress reliever, and helps to clear/relax your mind. Also, if you do this before bedtime, it helps prepare your body for rest.

Then of course I do my nightly skin care routine, but this is not the highlight of this routine, I just can’t go to sleep without tending to my skin first.

The key to my nighttime routine is LAVENDER. LAVENDAR. LAVENDAR.

Health Benefits of Lavender

Lavender has been proven to help with nervousness, insomnia, headaches, and sore muscles. This God sent herb naturally has calming and soothing properties, which is exactly what I NEEDED.

With that being said, after my bath and mini spa treatment (my skin routine is pretty lengthy)..

I make a nice hot cup of lavender tea adding only raw honey to sweeten, and I’ll take a valerian root pill, which promotes peaceful and tranquil rest. I also put a sleepy time blend of essential oils in my diffuser: 4 drops lavender, 2 drops cedarwood, 2 drops wild orange, and 1 drop ylang ylang. 

However, drinking lavender tea alone did not help me sleep…

I smoke the lavender. Yes, you can smoke herbs other than marijuana. And the best thing about lavender is that smoking this particular herb will fill your room with a soothing scent, and put you right to sleep. It’s also totally legal, super cheap, and super easy to get!!! 

Comfort is the key to relaxation so I snuggle up in bed, play some soft music (which for me is neo-soul, or jazz), and inhale this calming herb. 

I know how frustrating dealing with insomnia can be, and if you are somebody who does, this is the nighttime routine you need to incorporate every night. It’s simple, safe, and effective. Say bye bye to restlessness, fatigue, stress, and depression. Go catch you some Zzzz’s.
